For conitnuous good service in the field.  He has commanded a Battery throughout the period with conspicuous ability, particularly during the recent mobile operations.  His energy has been unceasing, and he has on many occasions carried out his duties regardless of heavy enemy fire.

February 26th to September 19th 1917.  A resolute Battery commander with a high sense of duty.  Originally commanded a Section of the Divisional Ammunition Column, the horses of which were kept in excellent condition, and has for some six months commanded a Battery with success.
