For exceptionally good service during the period under consideration - 26th February 1917 to 20th September 1917, which included the long and trying preparations for the battle of Messines and also during a period of two years active service  in Gallipoli and France.  He has never spared himself and has always gained the confidence of the Brigade and Battalion Commanders with whom he has been associated.

Has commanded a Field Company from September to November 1915, in Gallipoli and from April to September in France, including operations on the Somme.  He has shown marked energy and ability in all his duties and has always set an example of coolness under fire.
