During the action at Galatas, Crete, on 25 May 1941, Warrant Officer Andrews was wounded in the arm. While waiting to have his wound attended to he reported to Brigade Headquarters and asked for employment. The Germans were advancing fast and there was a great deal of confusion. He was instructed to rally parties and take them into position, which he did with efficiency and thus greatly helped in preventing panic. He then organized and led a party to rescue some wounded who were being abandoned and finally asked permission to leave as he had received three additional wounds. He was under fire the whole time and his outstanding gallantry and coolness had an invaluable steadying effect
