For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on the morning of the 25th September 1918. He was in charge of the vanguard during the march on Amman. Though his squadron came under heavy rifle, machine gun and shell fire, he skillfully made dispositions and forced back the enemy. During the attack he made personal reconnaissances and brilliantly led his squadron in the attack, his judgement set a magnificent example to all ranks under his command.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He handled his squadron with great skill and gallantry in an attack upon a concealed enemy position. Although wounded in two places he continued in command until a third time wounded, setting a fine example throughout.
