Flight Lieutenant PATTISON participated in the latter part of the Battle of Britain when he was shot down and severely wounded. He resumed operational flying later and flew on many high and low-level operations. On one occasion he was forced to leave his aircraft while over the channel. He is now on his third tour of operational duty during which he has taken part in many sweeps as well as numerous low-level attacks. A fine flight commander, his determination , zeal and courage have been an inspiration to all.

This officer has completed a third tour of operational duty. He has displayed the highest standard of skill and courage and throughout his devotion to duty has been unfailing. He has shown the finest qualities of leadership both in the air and on the ground and his sterling work has contributed in good measure to the success of the squadron he commands. Within recent months Squadron Leader PATTISON has destroyed very many enemy mechanical vehicles and shot down two enemy aircraft.
