Mailly-Maillet 26 March 1918.  For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty while one of a party engaged in dislodging a machine gun which was causing our troops casualties from a commanding position.  The party worked round and attacked the machine-gun post.  This Warrant Officer shot two of the enemy and the post was rushed: also two prisoners and a gun captured.  Although the operations, too, this warrant officer rendered valuable assistance to his company commander, and set a splendid example of coolness and dash to the men of his company.
