France August 1918,  For conspicuous gallantry during an attack.  He went forward with two forward observation officers and supervised the maintenance of communications from them to brigade headquarters.  Later in the day he went through an intense barrage and established visual communications.  His conduct was splendid, and owing to his efforts the Artillery were able to render great assistance to the infantry
