CITATION
Distinguished Flying Cross
Gazetted 19 October 1943, Supp 36219, p4674
IMMEDIATE AWARD - This officer was the pilot of an aircraft which attacked Mannheim one night in September 1943. Whils’t over the target area,
the aircraft was hit by machine-gun fire from a fighter. A fire broke out in the flare-chute, while the inter-communications system was rendered
unserviceable.  Pilot Officer Lowe coolly withheld his attack, however, until the fire had been extinguished and the inter-communication system had
been repaired. He then made a second run over the target and pressed home a vigorous attack. His coolness, courage and determination set a fine
example
