France, February 1918.  For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.  He took command of his platoon when his officer was killed, and led them to meet an enemy attack, which he completely defeated; he successfully defended his posts against every attempt of the enemy to pierce our line

Operations: In front of Passchendaele October 3rd and 4th 1917.  For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.  While holding advanced posts in front of Passchendaele on 3rd October 1917 he handled his men with great skill.  The position wasvery heavily shelled during the day, but despite numerous casualties, Sergeant LAMB, by his bravery and splendid example, held his men together till his Platoon was relieved during the night of 3rd/4th October.  His conduct during the day of the 3rd October is worthy of the highest praise.
