For most conspicuous gallantry and good work in the operations near Le Quesnoy from 26th to 30th October 1918. On the 29th he was a member of a party consisting of seven men, under a sergeant, which was to raid an enemy strong point 300 yards from our line. The party crept to within 30 yards of the enemy position, and it was found that the posts occupied by the enemy were small and several. He immediately rushed one post alone, killing three of the enemy. He then rushed another post, killing two and capturing one of the garrison, whom he bought back to our line. He afterwards went out and brought in a wounded comrade. He behaved magnificently
