France 1917-1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He has taken part in nearly every operation in which the battery has been engaged, distinguishing himself by his conspicuous gallantry and setting a fine example to his gun-team. On one occasion, when time: was limited, he worked night and day under shell and machine-gun fire preparing mortar emplacements and getting up the necessary ammunition, with a devotion to duty worthy of the highest praise.
