For devotion to duty and the successful handling of his Battery, particularly from 30th September to 4th November 1917, under very trying conditions as regards enemy fire and mud, before Passchendaele.  He has at all times displayed courgae and leadership.

February 26th to 20th September 1917.  Has commanded 4th Howitzer Battery during the period under review.  Has always displayed courage and coolness under fire , and keeps his men in good fighting form.  His Battery did well during the Messines Offensive.
