For conspicuous gallantry in action.  Under the very heavy shellfire that the enemy were directing on his battery, he walked up and down behind the guns, encouraging his men and directing their fire with the greatest coolness and composure.  He set a splendid example which greatly helped the excellent discipline of his men

Krithia 25 May – 17 August 1915.  Bought to notice of GOC 29th Indian Brigade for the very excellent work carried out by him during the period 25 May – 17 August 1915 while the battery as attached to 147th Brigade Royal Field Artillery, 29th Division. For the greater part of this period Capatin Farr’s almost continuous service as FOO and during several advances which our Infantry Brigade made Captain Farr even under heavy fire kept up splendid communication with the Battery thus enabling close co-operation with our Infantry
