For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations near Crevecoeur on 29th September and 1st October 1918.  The first day he was wounded and one of his party killed and one wounded, but he established early communication with the attacking companies.  The next day three of his section were killed or wounded, but he kept his wire working, and, although wounded a second time, carried on for twenty four hours

Action: Flers, 15, 16, 17 September 1916.  This man is a Battalion signaller.  During the fighting around Flers on the above dates he displayed the greatest courage and devotion to duty, going out repeatedly during heavy shellfire to mend broken lines.  He has been instrumental in keeping up communications.
