This N.C.O. has performed excellent work in connection with sanitation in the area occupied by this Division. He has commonly worked from 8 a.m. to 10 and 11 p.m. and has performed his duties both conscientiously and efficiently. His knowledge and sanitary engineering has been invaluable in this work. His devotion to his exacting duties and the efficiency with which he has performed them as thoroughly worthy of recognition. He has continued to carry out these duties during the period 21st September 1916 to 25th February 1917.

He and three brothers immigrated to New Zealand in 1894. Served with Submarine Mining Corps.  Civil employment as Engineer with Wellington Harbour Board.
Served at Gallipoli with Wellington Battalion, promoted Corporal 1 October 15, evacuated 29 December 1915. Transfered to Divisional Sanitary Section, 13 February 1916, promoted Sergeant 14 March 1916, promoted Staff Sergeant 16 June 1916, commissioned Lieutenant on 12 October 1918.
Transferred New Zealand Medical Corps territorial active list as a Captain on 8 September 1921, Retired List on 4 October 1935
