France, September-November 1918.  For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.  During the period under review, both in the line and out, the gallantry, ability, and initiative of the Warrant Officer has been a fine example to the men and a great support and assistance to his company commander, to whom, on one occasion particularly, he gave the greatest help in collecting stragglers and reorganizing the company, under heavy fire, for a further stage of the attack.
