Boutillerie, 20 December 1916.  For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.  During the operations he behaved in a most gallant manner in attacking and putting out of action an enemy machine gun crew, thereby saving many casualties

Messines, 7 June 1917.  For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.  He showed fine leadership and initiative in commanding hi platoon under heavy shellfire during and after an attack.  Although his trenches were constantly blown in, he kept control of his men, and by his courage and example set a very high standard to all ranks.
