Corporal Tukaki showed outstanding resourcefulness during the attack on Point 29, Egypt, on the night of 1-2 November 1942 when his section commander was wounded. He took control in an attack on enemy machin-gun posts and after annihilating the forward elements of the enemy with hand grenades and bayonets  he led his men further to the next line of pits. His whole section ultimately became casualties and he then joined other members of his Company and boldly led them forward again, determination and brilliant leadership that enabled his company to gain its objective
