Distinguished Conduct Medal

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. For distinguished service and great gallantry when in charge of the horses and transport of a wireless station. In addition to his ordinary duties he did all the shoeing of the horses and repairs to wagons and tyres, and it was entirely due to his ability and untiring efforts that the station got through to its destination. He' further distinguished himself during a hostile attack by his bravery and devotion in attending the wounded under fire and transporting them to places of safety
