Notes - In 1969 Squadron Leader RODGER completed a conversion course onto Hercules and then flew with 40 Squadron RNZAF.  In 1973 he was appointed Operations Flight Commander 40 Squadron, a post he held until 1976.  His distinguished services to transport flying, and particularly with 40 Squadron were recognised by the award of the Air Force Cross.

Notes - Flight Lieutenant RODGER served as an RNZAF transport pilot for seven years with 40 Squadron (DC-6 Flight) 1961-63, Transport Support Unit 1963-65, 3 Squadron in 1965, and 41 Squadron (all Bristol Freighters) at Singapore 1965-67.  His valuable services in this role and particularly with 41 Sqn RNZAF as a Bristol Freighter pilot flying freight and personnel from Singapore into Vietnam and Thailand were recognised by this award.
