CITATION
Distinguished Conduct Medal
Gazetted 16 August 1917, p8415
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.  He led his platoon with the greatest gallantry after his officer had been wounded crawling up under our own barrage and capturing an enemy strong point before they had time to come into action.  By this act of daring he captured two machine-guns and killed their crews, afterwards leading a bombing attack down the enemy trench and completely disorganizing them.  The capture of the enemy positions was largely due to his fine work
