France.  He has served as transport sergeant to his battalion from 25th February 1918.  He has been present with his unit during all active operations throughout.  He has at all times displayed marked courage and devotion to duty in recoinnoitring routes for his transport, and by leading it forward to the battalion throughout enemy shell fire by night and day.  He has never once failed to deliver a single load of either ammunition, water or food.  He has set a fine example to those under him

For galltry and consistent devotion to duty.  During the period from22/9/17 to 24/2/18 this Non Commissioned Officer has been a most zealous and efficient transport Corporal.  In October 1917, during the operations near Gravenstafel he carried out his duties as the senior Non Commissioned Officer of the Battalion Transport in a highly satisfactory manner, and displayed great courgae and ability in bringing up supplies through heavy shellfire.  He has always proved most reliable and energetic in his work.
