Flying Officer Garvie as navigator of bomber aircraft has displayed the utmost enthusiasm to engage the enemy on all possible occasions.  His operational service, which began in the Pacific in late 1942, has covered much of the Solomons and Bismarks campaigns, and Flying Officer Garvie throughout, has shown qualities of gallantry, extreme enthusiasm, and devotion to duty in the face of sustained hazards and enemy attacks.  Although his aircraft was hit by enemy anti-aircraft fire over New Britain on 28th June 1944, he returned a few days later and knowing the dangers involved, cheerfully pressed home another attack in the same area.  Anti-aircraft fire shot out one motor during the second attack, but his aircraft was skilfully bought back to base.  In all Flying Officer Garvie has completed 83 combat missions.
