For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During active operations he brought his transport waggons and pack animals over difficult country, under heavy fire, with few casualties. This successful result was mainly due to his skill and resource, which he has displayed on many occasions when in charge of transport, distinguishing himself by his courage under fire and unflagging devotion to duty.
